Balance: Management Equilibrium

"The best and safest thing is to keep a balance in your life, acknowledge the great powers around us and in us. If you can do that and live that way, you are really a wise man."

Euripides
5th Century BC Greek Playwright

Balance in every aspect of our lives including how we conduct business.

And this is not just about time spent on various activities but one's thinking, focus, commitment, investment, delegation, attitude, aggressiveness (or lack thereof), literally everything.

Too much, too little of anything is not good.

Balanced.

Are you?

  1. I can sense when I am balanced, in harmony and when I am not but I'm not very good at understanding how I got to either position.

It's like bad hair days. If I knew how to prevent them they wouldn't happen.

  2. I think I know what you mean Cecilia.

I go through cycles where I feel like everything I do turns out right while at other times, not so. Nothing big, just a general sense of things going my way or against me; maybe like a ball player who is hitting versus one in a slump.

I have noticed that when I feel I'm in a down cycle, I can often identify a problem with balance. Too much or too little work or play or focus or something else. Sometimes just recognizing that is happening is enough to make things better.

If we think we can see that in others we work with, should we say something to them?
