  1. I network in two online groups and have found the input I get from both of them to be very valuable to my business. Not all of it but enough to keep me coming back.

Not directly related to getting along with people but I thought it counted because it has to do with working in a group.

  2. Research shows that decisions made by groups with balanced input from many, are by and large better than those made by a few or only one.

But the process must be fair and equitable. If group input is just used to hide the fact that the decision maker has already made up his/her mind, there's no point.

For all the consensus management claims made by Asian companies, they are the worst when it comes to using group discussion to appear as though the decision was the consensus of the group.

  3. i'm no expert on asian companies but i wasn't aware that consensus management was something that was commonly attributed to them (or claimed by them).

i'm somewhat familiar though with the toyota manufacturing system which really empowers employees at all levels on the manufacturing floor to whatever they can to improve quality - including actually stopping the manufacturing flow when they detect a potential problem. i would argue that this is a fairly good example of consensus based decision making.
