Discernment: The Power of the Second Look

"One who returns to a place sees it with new eyes. Although the place may not have changed, the viewer inevitably has. For the first time things invisible before become suddenly visible."

Do you think Mr. L'Amore was only referring to places or could he have also been talking about ideas and concepts?

Maybe things aren't as they first appear.

  1. Second opinions (reconsidering recent conclusions) is good management practice.

Don't do it to the point of paralysis but certainly when contemplating anything of consequence.

Now, is it just me or is that something a female manager is more likely to do than will a male??

  2. I think you've already reached a conclusion regarding your question Cynthia.

If so, any chance you'll go back and take another look??

  3. "Second opinions", "reconsidering", "second looks", all the same thing although some are seen less positively than others, as though the person doing the rethinking was not decisive.

Cynthia is right, there is a danger in thinking too much, becoming paralyzed as she said, but there is just as much danger in acting irrationally.

The question should not be do you take second looks but rather how best to strike balance between doing so and just acting?

BTW, Cynthia, did you once work at Boeing in Long Beach by chance? Your views are very close to a Cynthia I worked with there a few years back.
