Management: Starting With Me

"Rule your mind or it will rule you."

Horace

Self-discipline.

Too much of it and we are in danger of repressing creativity. Too little of it and like the author H. Jackson Brown Jr said, our talent is like an octopus on roller skates seemingly going in all directions at once.

Much is written and said about managing others but what about managing ourselves? Are we not the first person we need to direct?

  1. I'll bet less than 1 out of 10 managers ever come close to thinking about the need to "manage themselves." But they well should.

Starting today, that's what I will do.

  2. Why is it that we can so easily see the weaknesses of others but not ourselves?

How can everyone else have so much wrong with them while there is so much right with us?

I tried, I wouldn't listen and so I fired me.

  4. Hey Lyle, sounds like you didn't turn out to be the guy you thought you would be so better for both of you to let you go now rather than later.
