"What is the difference between unethical and ethical advertising? Unethical advertising uses falsehoods to deceive the public; ethical advertising uses truths to deceive the public."
Vilhjalmur Stefansson Early 20th century Canadian Arctic Explorer, Educator, Ethnologist
You can tell the truth and still deceive, and not just in advertising.
I'm not sure this is what Anonymous is suggesting, but I don't think you can be successful in business and not bend the truth. What salesman doesn't exaggerate at least some, and isn't that truth bending?
I'm a salesman and regularly expand my company's capabilities and know my competition does as well. We generally end up providing what I promised, but not always. Does that make me a liar?
Everyone does this but some cross the line and when they do, their reputation is shot.
ReplyDeleteYou ask if I do? I do.

It's not just business. Everyone "adjusts" the truth some time. Everyone.
