Management Philosophy: In Whose Hands Are You?

"Destiny is no matter of chance. It is a matter of choice. It is not a matter to be waited for, it is a thing to be achieved."

William Jennings Bryant
Attorney, three time Democratic Nominee for President, Ex US Secretary of State

Some believe we are subjects of destiny, others such as Mr Bryant, that we create our destiny and the implications of each on management decisions are great.

What do you think?

  1. This is a very philosophical question. Are we controlled by or can we create our fate?

Maybe the answer is another question; to what degree?

Certainly many of us could do much more to alter what will otherwise be our fate.

  2. Good question.

I know there is much more I don't control than there is I do; however I also know I can make much more happen if I try than when I don't.

  3. One word: pragmatic!
Pragmatism, a great American way of thinking and doing.
