Think, Do, Progress!

"Great thoughts reduced to practice, become great acts."

William Hazlitt
Late 18th century British essayist

All the great plans one might have are useless without action.

The only thing worse is the absence of both.

  1. And great thoughts not acted upon are not great thoughts at all.

  2. The ability to execute is a very necessary, underrated quality in managers.

However more damage can be done by acting too rashly as opposed to not at all.

  3. Ron, I agree with the intent of what you say but not that "more" damage will "always" be the result of acting versus not acting.

Can we settle on the need to be in the middle? At some point a company will as surely die from inaction as action.

Spend a reasonable amount of time analyzing the intended action, taking into account the company's ability to survive failure (never bet what you cannot afford to lose), and if all seems in order including a plan you think will work, pull the trigger.

  4. I'll take a B strategy with A execution over an A strategy with B execution any day.

  5. And I'll take either with timely action over either without.
