HOW LONG WOULD YOU PAY, GETTING LITTLE OR NOTHING IN RETURN?

"What you do speaks so loud that I cannot hear what you say."

Ralph Waldo Emerson (1803-1882) U.S. poet/essayist/lecturer.

And what you don't do speaks pretty loud too.

Doing, not broken promises about things not done.

Not "explanations"; itself just a nice substitute for "excuses".

We are paid for doing what we say we will do to the benefit of ourselves and those who pay us.

Produce and you'll be paid; don't you won't, it's that simple.

Cold Hard Reality

"To aim is not enough, you must hit!"

German proverb

This does fly in the face of all our exhortations to our children that doing their best was more important than winning, doesn't it?

But at work?

Either you do or you'll end up not doing somewhere else.

Them, NOT Me!

"Much ado about nothing."

William Shakespeare
16th century British playwright/poet

How much of what you do at work does this describe?

How about those you work with?

Working With What You've Got, Not What You Want

"Politicians say more taxes would solve everything.  And the band played on."
"Ball of Confusion"
The Temptations

Whether it be government or business, there comes a point where more money is not the solution.
Nice to have too much rather than too little but since most of us never do, we have to know how to make the most of what there is.

Do you?

What's "Done" Isn't Always

"A computer lets you make more mistakes, faster than any invention in human history-with the possible exception of hand guns and tequila."

Mitch Ratcliffe
Internet Strategist

He's right.

A lot of people, sometimes me included, confuse output with production.

They are very different things and often "done" is actually not.

Do you measure production? How?
