One person saying something to another, either with no response or not listening to what is said back (as per you last post) is what happens most of the time.
I agree and would bet most people who are poor listeners, which is most people, don't realize how little they hear.
That includes me. I've found I have to sometimes force myself to concentrate on what the other person is saying, and in many cases when I initially disagree with them, if I ask them to go over it one more time, I find our differences to be small to non existent.
