I disagree. Choosing where to lead from in the organization, including the front, is a decision that every manager must make. You may disagree because you took the statement literally, but regardless, every manager must decide what their style will be. And while that is true in the military, there the implication of "lead from the front" is associated with a completely different context. I'm betting you've not been in the service because if you had you would know that.
