I see a lot of correlation between being considered talented and not being good at integrating with those you work with.
I work in an ad agency and we're loaded with prima donna types, some of which actually are talented. But in most cases their egos detract from their ability to help not only the company but themselves as well.
The norm? I don't know. I've experienced this to but have also met a lot of very talented people who did work well with others. And in the advertising world, at the top of the list would be the late, great Jay Chiat.
