Conservative Business Management

"When a nation's young men are conservative, its funeral bell has already rung."

Henry Ward Beecher
19th century American politician

Suggesting new thinking only comes from the liberal point of view.

How will companies run by conservative management create the change they need to evolve and grow?

(To those conservatives just joining us, see yesterday's post.)

  1. Conservative and liberal are terms generally only used in reference to politics, but I can see the connection to business, mostly having to do with how much or little risk management will take.

  2. Exactly.

When entrenched thinking takes over, even that which has been successful in the past, management is prone to conservatism. Is that necessarily bad? I'm not sure but I think it might well be.

Nothing is forever, including what has worked in the past, and if we continue to follow old ways and methods, no matter how good they may have one time been, we are bound to fall behind.
