You Mean I Have To Be At Least One Of These?

"Your manuscript is both good and original. But the parts that are good are not original and the parts that are original are not good."

Samuel Johnson
18th century British author

True in business as well.

Companies, products, and even people, only succeed long-term by being at least one of these things, if not both.

  1. People, and as a result, companies and their products, become complacent and when they do, sooner or later they're going to fail. I think Apple is experiencing a bit of that now.

  2. A growing number of people are saying that about Apple but I'm not so sure. At least I don't see evidence of it as of yet.

Think back to when many companies were coming out with netbooks. The question then was "When will Apple introduce one?" They never did. Instead they came up with iPad and soon netbooks were just a memory.

Apple is working on a "watch" (quotes to indicate it will be so much more than that) but so too are others including Samsung. Things just keep getting more interesting.
