The Pain Of Criticism

"I feel the pain of a little censure, even when it is unfounded, is more acute than the pleasure of much praise."

Thomas Jefferson
3rd president of the United States

I think this is probably true for most of us.

And yet we can or should learn more from criticism than we do from praise.

That is if we're listening.

  2. I know what you mean, or if they're not, they sure seem to be able to hide their pain.

  3. Criticism is sometimes hard to take, but a good way to learn better. I used to take things literally, and would practically fall apart when things didn't go the way I wanted them to or if someone tried to correct me. I have recently read a great book that has helped me change my view point on criticism a lot. It is titled, "Stop Playing Safe: Rethink Risk. Unlock the Power of Courage. Achieve Outstanding Success" by Margie Warrell and has done a fantastic job at helping me bounce back from setbacks with greater resilience!
