"There is no indispensable man."
Franklin D. Roosevelt
32nd president of the United States
While I've always known this to be true, I haven't always acted as thought I did.
My ego occasionally made me out to be more (to myself) than I actually was.
What about you?
Congratulations for being so candid about yourself, few would do that privately not to mention publicly.
ReplyDeleteI too have thought of myself as indispensable and at the very least you challenge my belief in how often, if ever, that was true.
I accept that no one is indispensable in business, at least not for long. But what about in our personal lives? Isn't the role of a mother and father exactly that?
ReplyDeleteThere are big differences between being indispensable in our business and personal lives, but as a "Big Brother" in the Big Brother/Big Sister program, I believe it depends on what the parent does or doesn't do. Unfortunately many kids are better off without a parent given what that parent does or does not do.
ReplyDeleteUnlike business managers, parents should be indispensable but sadly many are not.
