Home Is Not Wherever

"People are usually happiest at home."

William Shakespeare
16th century British playwright

If you are just entering the workforce, possibly inclined to take the first job you can find regardless of where it might be, think about this carefully.

Jobs come and go and the only thing worse than losing a job is doing so in a place you wouldn't otherwise choose to be.

  1. Good advice.

I'm 44 and have had a half dozen jobs in as many cities, none of which I particularly enjoyed or that lasted that long.

  2. I almost got on that track when first starting out. Early in my career I was being recruited for a job in Florida and was flattered to the point of putting aside concerns for the job and the area. But I ultimately came to my senses, built my career in Southern Cal, and have never regretted that I did.

While SoCal was for me, it isn't for many. Find where you are comfortable and look for something to do there.
