I understand Anonymous but remember, looking for something new is not the same as making the switch. When you look you have some possibility of improving your situation whereas you have almost no chance at all if you don't look.
Hi Bill, Is it better to take refuge in a secure job you are underqualifies and underpaid for but which you enjoy in a recession. Or is it better to go all out for something in which you may be punching above your weight with high risk of failue but high rewards if you succeed? I chose the former but am tempted by a chance to seek the latter.
Which is better can only be determined on a case by case basis, and not just from the perpective of the person making the decision, but as well by all who will be impacted by that decision (family and possibly some friends.)
You used the right word when you said you are "tempted" because that is what it is, temptation. But as I suggested to Anonymous 1 (I'm assuming you are two different people), my advice is to THOROUGHLY research your options and then decided which is best for you. If you do it well, the process will likely lead you to the best decision for you; however, the emphasis is on doing it "well", which most people, including me in the past, do not do. Instead we let emotion take over and we jump to whatever feels right only to later find we've made a big mistake.
But the disclaimers aside, I hope you do explore your options; doing so might lead you to a much better alternative than status quo.
Good luck and let me know if you'd like an outside opinion of what you are thinking of doing. I'd be happy to help however possible.
i dont like my job, i know it is wrong, but i'm just glad I have it and wouldnt change now for anything
