Good advice for anyone starting their own company, saying to themselves, "My company will be different than all the others."
It will be but you'll have to work at it to make that difference positive.
I guess i never really understood what people mean when they talk about a company's culture. Is this about language or wehter they're honest?
ReplyDeleteThere are likely many definitions of "corporate culture" but for the most part this will not have as much to do with things like language as it will how the company "acts". I purposely put that in quotes because in reality, a company does not act or do anything for that matter, its employees do, and the sum total of what they do and how they do it is the company culture. Let me give you some examples of what I mean.
ReplyDeleteUsually the ethics of a company come from the top down, meaning, senior management sets the tone and employees then act accordingly. If senior management is themselves, sexist, racist, philanthropic, benevolent, then it follows (but is not necessarily true) that its employees will be that way as well.
Other indicators of a company's culture could be how energetic, risk adverse, daring, innovative, aggressive, liberal, conservative, and a host of other adjectives you can name, they are or are not.
