Proactive Versus Reactive Management

Management's decision to "really change the way we do things around here", often comes as a reaction to some crisis, only to be put aside when the danger appears to go away.

  1. Barn doors are only meant to be closed after the horse is gone, and even then they are quickly reopened, the escaped horse soon forgot.

  2. How true. We sometimes cannot see looming disaster until it happens.

    But I do think more what if contingency planning would help.

    It's funny. I have clients who come up with good, better, best financial plans but none I can think of that discuss what may likely cause various performance levels to happen. That to me is of greater importance than are the numbers.
