Maybe Emerson was on to something... but then again, Cicero also said:
"He only employs his passion who can make no use of his reason"
So maybe Emerson was asking for all of us to engage in a careful examination of the way we choose to live our lives and the rules we impose on ourselves...
I think these are important words to ponder, as they remind us to keep Tyranny in check.
