"The courts of kings are full of people, but empty of friends."

Yet another quote from our friend Seneca, who in the first century before the birth of Christ, could see how lonely it is for leaders, be they kings, CEO's or department heads.
How do you handle the blurred lines between business and friendship?
How do you handle the blurred lines between business and friendship?
I don't do business with friends, even people I like.
ReplyDeleteThere are as many examples of successful business relations among friends as there are unsuccessful ones. Success or failure is not dependent on whether or not you are friends but rather how you treat each other.
ReplyDeleteThere is so much dysfunction in business relations, including those where there is no friendship. And when you look at the personal side of people's lives, with all the divorce, substance abuse, etc., you see that unfortunately it's not confined to business.
Rather than worrying about the role friendship plays or doesn't play in a successful business relation, time should be spent looking at how we treat those around us, both business and personal.
It's pretty sad.
