I AM SO JEALOUS OF THOSE WHO ARE NOT SO JEALOUS

"The jealous are troublesome to others, but a torment to themselves."

William Penn, 17th century English entrepreneur.

While there is no cure for jealousy we can be aware when we are.

You'll be jealous but at least fight like hell not to show you are.

THE JEALOUS KIND

"The disease of jealousy is so malignant that is converts all it takes into its own nourishment."

Joseph Addison (1672-1719) English essayist/poet/dramatist.

Disclaimer for me (you too): I am occasionally jealous of others.

Being so is human.

But problems arise when we are too often; when we attempt to hurt those we are jealous of.

NOW THAT'S REALLY STUPID!

"Moral indignation is jealousy with a halo."

H. G. Wells (1866-1946) British-born American author.

This applies equally well in our personal and professional lives, but for the moment, just think about how it relates to work.

Being honest, how many of your co-worker's ideas do you oppose because you didn't think of them first?

I'M JEALOUS OF YOU IF YOU NEVER ARE

"Jealousy is the jaundice of the soul."

John Dryden (1631-1700) British poet/dramatist/critic

Can there be a human emotion that affects all of us more deeply?

Be it if you must, I am from time to time, but try your best not to act on it.

THE IMPORTANCE OF US ALL

"I am a part of all that I have met."

Lord Alfred Tennyson
19th century British poet

There is much compartmentalization in business and all too often a belief by some that their "compartment" is more important than that of the next person.

It's not, there is value in us all.

If our business turns out to be a "house of cards" it is on all not some of us.

Would You Pity Or Envy Me?

"If the secret sorrows of everyone could be read on their forehead, how many who now cause envy would suddenly become the objects of pity?"

Italian proverb

We envy what we know often without knowing what we don't know.

One Or The Other

"The jealous are possessed by a mad devil and a dull spirit at the same time."

Johann Kaspar Lavater
18th century Swiss theologian

It's not that a jealous person is not capable of also being creative in their own right.

It's just that they typically don't have time to be both simultaneously.
