"You must give up the way it is... to have it the way you want it to be."

Unknown

Having your cake and eating it too just doesn't work.

Now What?

"We have perhaps a natural fear of ends.  We would rather always be on the way than arrive."

Eric Hoffer
20th century American philosopher

Is that because we know that with most ends there soon follows a new beginning?

The devil you know versus the one you don't?

Planning For The End

"Death is the shadow that always follows the body."

English Proverb

The morbidity of that statement notwithstanding, death is inevitable for all living things including companies and their activities.

To some degree most of us plan for our personal demise but do we enough in business?

Or is there some unspoken assumption that our business will live forever?

If so, is that a bad thing?

Knowing When It's Time

"Great is the art of beginning, but greater is the art of ending."

Lazurus Long
Philosopher

Let me paraphrase a possible explanation of why that is true. You need to know when to quit so you are free to begin.

No sun rises without sun sets.
