LIKE IT OR NOT, YOU OWN IT

"One's philosophy is not best expressed in words; it is expressed in the choices one makes... and the choices we make are ultimately our responsibility."

Eleanor Roosevelt, 20th century American politician

The choices you make are your responsibility.

Put excuses aside, do what is right, what you said you would do.

WHO MAKES OR UNMAKES YOU?

"Man is made or unmade by himself. By the right choice he ascends. As a being of power, intelligence, and love, and the lord of his own thoughts, he holds the key to every situation."

James Allen (1864-1912) British-born American essayist.

What do you make of the fact that you, only you, make or unmake you?

EITHER WAY, THE CHOICE IS YOURS

"If you've made up your mind you can do something, you're absolutely right. If you've made up your mind you can't do something, you're absolutely right."

Unknown

Interesting isn't it?

Your success or failure both begin with the same choice.

NOT IMPOSSIBLE TO GET RIGHT, JUST DIFFICULT

"There's no such thing as work-life balance. There are work-life choices, and you make them, and they have consequences."

Jack Welch, retired business executive/chemical engineer.

Hopefully mostly good choices but often not.

Never stop trying to get this right.

It's your life, the only one you have, and not only do your choices affect you they affect those you care about as well.

WHAT YOU MUST DO, WHAT YOU LIKE TO DO

"Medicine is my lawful wife and literature my mistress; when I get tired of one, I spend the night with the other."

Anton Chekhov (1860-1904) Russian author.

So many unhappy at work.

We recreate to offset the time spent doing what we must rather than what we like, often without the option of deciding when we will do either of them.

One third of your life will be spent working; do your best to insure the majority of that time will be enjoyable.

I UNDERSTAND THAT

"One may understand the Cosmos, but never the ego; the self is more distant than any star."

Gilbert Keith Chesterton
Late 19th/early 20th century British journalist/novelist/poet

But you must try.

You must do all you can to direct the only mortal life you will have.

If you don't others will for you.

Whether Or Not You Know It . . .

"Reason also is choice."

John Milton
17th century English poet

A choice to reason or not.

What's your choice?

What I Will, What I Won't

"All philosophy lies in two words, sustain and abstain."

Epictetus
1st century Greek philosopher

The trick is to know what you will abstain from, what you will work to sustain.

The choice is not always clear but is often difficult.

Until The Day You Die

"It is always your next move."

Napoleon Hill
20th century American speaker/writer

And notice he didn't say anything about limits.

You have options no matter your status, gender, age, or any other descriptor you can think of.

They may not be the ones you believe you want but you do have them.

What will you do next?

It's Your Choice

"It is your own convictions which compels you; that is, choice compels choice."

Epictetus
1st century Greek philosopher

In other words you can choose to choose or not.

If you don't you must accept what chance and others gives you.

If you try things will still not always turn out as you wish.

But they will more often than if you don't.
